Laila Hishaw, DDS, FACD, FICD
Dr. Hishaw is unlocking potential and creating pathways to success for a brighter future in dentistry. She is a board-certified pediatric dentist, author and visionary leader. In 2003, she opened her first private practice, blazing the trail as the first female pediatric dentist to do so in Tucson, Arizona. When she is not caring for the smiles of her young patients at Tucson Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, she is elevating the entire profession as the founder & CEO of Diversity in Dentistry Mentorships, a nonprofit on a mission to strike more of a balance in our profession.
The intersection of her leadership in the private and nonprofit sectors, coupled with her lived experiences as a woman of color in dentistry, has given her a unique perspective and appreciation to teach and problem solve using both an analytical and empathetic approach. It is her desire to help people, organizations, and educational institutions build pathways to success–from the predental student to the practice owner or dental school dean.
Dr. Hishaw has given keynote speeches and presentations to the National Dental Association, American Dental Association’s SmileCon™, Mommy Dentists In Business™ CEO Roundtable, Arizona Dental Association, Midwest Dental Conference, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Student Dental Association, among other organizations and companies.
